Comparison · GDPR
Slack is the gold standard for team chat — and a data-protection nightmare for European companies. Conecct gives you the same chat flow, hosted in Germany, without forcing you to bolt on six other tools.
Slack has been a Salesforce subsidiary since 2021, runs on AWS in the United States, and falls under the CLOUD Act — US authorities can request your data without a German court's involvement. For any confidential conversation (HR, strategy, customer projects) that is a latent risk that surfaces at the next GDPR audit. On top of that: Slack is only chat. You'll still need Asana for tasks, Google Calendar, Outlook, Notion, Loom — every one of them billed separately, with its own onboarding and permission hygiene. Those two problems — US hosting and tool sprawl — are the reason Conecct exists.
Conecct Slack
Six axes where the two differ. When Slack is better, we say so.
| Criterion | Conecct | Slack |
|---|---|---|
| Hosting & data residency | Hetzner Falkenstein, Germany · Article 28 DPA | AWS, USA · CLOUD Act applies |
| Tool coverage | Chat + tasks + mail + calendar + time-off + time tracking | Chat only (everything else via third-party integrations) |
| Integration ecosystem | Small — DeepL, Brevo, WebDAV; growing steadily | 2,400+ apps in the Slack App Directory |
| Long-term search | Unlimited full-text search on every tier | Free: 90 days · Pro: unlimited |
| Native mobile apps | PWA with web push (no native app in 2026) | Native iOS, Android, macOS, Windows, Linux |
Slack
Slack has a twelve-year head start and a massive integration ecosystem. If your workflow depends on GitHub pull-requests, Jira tickets, Zoom calls, and Linear issues all surfacing as Slack-bot messages in one channel, Slack is the better tool — full stop. Its native desktop apps are also more polished; Conecct still runs in the browser (as a PWA) in 2026. If either is a dealbreaker for your team, stick with Slack.

Slack Conecct
Slack exports channels and DMs as JSON via the workspace-owner export. We import that into Conecct as a read-only archive (so you keep your history) while new conversations move into fresh channels. Typical plan: day 1 export, day 2 import, day 3 pilot team migrates, days 7–14 rest of the company follows. We assist for free — write to support@conecct.app.
FAQ
Both. Conecct runs at Hetzner Online GmbH in Falkenstein (Saxony) and Nuremberg. We sign an Article 28 Data Processing Agreement with every customer. AES-256 encryption at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit. No US subsidiary, no data in third countries, no Standard Contractual Clauses construct — you have a contractual partner in Germany.
Yes. Slack lets workspace admins export all public channels (and on Plus plans private channels + DMs) as JSON. We convert that into Conecct read-only archives — you don't lose a single message. Both tools can run in parallel during the transition so nobody feels rushed.
As of May 2026, Conecct runs as a Progressive Web App. You can install Conecct as a native-feeling app on macOS, Windows, and Linux with one click — push notifications, tab badges, and keyboard shortcuts all work. Native iOS/Android apps are on the 2026/27 roadmap.
Conecct's integration ecosystem is much smaller than Slack's. If your team depends on 20+ Slack apps, we'll tell you honestly: stick with Slack. For typical workflows (email notifications, webhooks, single sign-on) Conecct is sufficient; specialised bot pipelines are not there yet.
Waitlist
Conecct is invitation-only right now. Join the waitlist — we'll come back with a personal setup session as soon as your workspace is provisioned.
